Our Mission

Revolutionize the Mental Health Treatment System

J Kent Foundation's mission is to inform the mental health advocacy community of the changes needed in the treatment system, raise necessary funds to build and operate a non-profit mental health facility, and to radically change the mental health system in the United States to provide more accessible, more comprehensive, and more personalized care to those suffering from mental illness.

Our Story

In August, 1995, Sarah Hooper, the founder of J Kent Foundation, lost her 16 year old brother, Joshua Kent, to a battle with brain cancer.  What followed in her life was a severe and lifelong battle with major depression, which included several inpatient stays for suicidal ideation.  She quickly learned that the mental health system did not recognize her as a qualified person to make recommendations for positive changes to the mental health treatment system.  And thus began her dream of building a revolutionary, state of the art, accessible nonprofit mental health facility.  This foundation was created in 2023 to educate the community and raise funds to make this facility a reality.
